Top Reads Of The Week: Reinventing Leadership

As the new normal dawns upon us, so does the challenges. And the greatest hurdle professionals face today is leadership, amongst other factors. The word leadership assumes a whole new meaning, and it is not what it was in the yesteryears.

With remote working and virtual onboarding fast becoming the new style of work we face, leaders are having a difficult time adapting to those changes, thus the need to evaluate as well as reinvent what quality leadership should be.

This week, let us refresh ourselves with the core fundamentals of what a leader should be in times of crisis and even beyond. To be the inspirational figure our teams and organizations need us to be.

The Greatest Leadership Article I’ve Ever Read

A very interesting read on what defines a leader. This article derives from the viewpoint of a military veteran, and never would I have thought that it can coincide so well with the working industry. The key takeaway is, leaders are not born; we are how we shape and adapt ourselves by being inclusive and understanding the situations we face.

The Psychology Behind Effective Crisis Leadership

Yes, we all had visions of a great year when the fireworks light up the dark skies, and laughter embraces us as the clock strikes twelve. But 2020 was not what anyone had imagined. And this is where a strong leader should rise to the occasion and take the helm and guide the ship into calmer waters.

This is the Most Important Lesson Leaders Need to Learn

This article is a superb pick-me-up for leaders who are a little lost, and up to their necks on the crucial decisions, they need to make or have already made. The tips given are simple though they sometimes fly over our heads when we are busy juggling work and leisure. Use these as a guide, and you’ll be reinventing your leadership purpose in no time and be the best professional you can be.

This is What Great Leaders Did – Simon Sinek Leadership Advice

I have a bonus video this week that I would like to share with everyone. It is by one of my favorite author and motivational speaker, Simon Sinek. What picked my interest in this short video is the content he touched on.

During my time as a participant in Jean-François Cousin’s coaching masterclass, we learned a very effective tool known as “The Power of Silence”. It is where we learn to stop talking and truly listen and understand what our teammates or co-workers are trying to convey.

In the video, Simon brought forth a vital point, and that is, “Practice being the last to speak”. As a leader, this is such a vital lesson we can and should apply in our everyday interactions with whomever we communicate with, clients, and co-workers alike.

With that said, I hope everyone is doing well, and may we be the best leaders we can be even beyond the tides of calamities we are all facing. Have a good weekend ahead!
