“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader” – John Quincy Adams
We are all leaders.
Whether it’s in the workplace, amongst friends or even at home with our loved ones. The question that follows is, how good of a leader are we? And what can we do to evolve as leaders, not only to improve the things we do but also how we guide those around us together with ourselves?
Let us enter the concept of coaching and mentoring. Although these two words are often used synonymously, there is a huge difference, and both of them will play a major part in upgrading yourself as well as others around you.
These soft-skills are more vital than ever as we go through times of great change and uncertainty. Thus, equipping them in our professional arsenal does not only make us more competent in leading our organization, it ultimately makes us future-proof as well when the industry evolves and peaks into what we know as the new normal.
This week, let’s find out what coaching and mentoring is and how it affects us as leaders facing instability in the professional world.
This article shows the difference between what coaching is as compared to mentoring. Equally important, these skills play vital roles in guiding those around us to achieve even more in terms of work and play. One is to share your personal experience; the other is to unlock a person’s inner potential. Which one is which, read on to find out more.
As leaders, it is easy to let our commitments slide, and neglect tend to happen due to many of us shifting into telecommunicating and the likes. Such is an unavoidable phenomenon, and it is up to us to take it in our stride and become better. Distance does not give us a reason to ease up on being there for our teams. Instead, it gives us even more opportunities to work on new strategies to bring the organization to a higher level.
There is no doubt the current crisis is taking a toll on many of us. It is up to us to realize that now is the time our co-workers and employees needs us the most. Find out ways you can be a good manager and give your utmost support as we all go through this crisis together.
